Another death metal review? Well why not! This band is much different in the death metal genre, given that they originally started off as a deathcore band. From their Doom EP, to Ruination, to Demonocracy, this band has much to offer. If these albums don’t sound familiar, then you must have never heard of Job For A Cowboy! Their new album is their best one yet, pushing the limits of technical death metal and making a statement in American underground metal.
Artist: Job For A Cowboy
Album: Demonocracy
Genre: Technical Death Metal
Label: Metal Blade Records
Release: April 10 2012
One track to discuss right away is the second song, “Nourishment Through Bloodshed“. This song shows how technical this band has become. With the guitar work similar to Necrophagist and the some of the fastest drumming out there, this track sounds like a completely different band than when Job For A Cowboy first started, which is not a bad thing. Each album the band puts out has its own distinct sound, making them each memorable in their own way. Demonocracy just offers their most brutal side. After Nourishment comes the track “Imperium Wolves“. This track quickly became a fan favorite on this album, and it deserves to be! This song has some interesting transitions. From fast paced brutality to steady beats, this song covers everything that Job For A Cowboy can perform.
This album barely has any negatives. The album is very technical, and each member shows their vast understanding of their instruments. As a follow-up to Ruination and the Gloom EP, Demonocracy is another prime example of how the band evolved over the years. Starting off as a Deathcore band, JFAC has now primarily turned into a Technical Death Metal band. Some older fans may be upset with the change in the style, but the mass have supported the change all the way. The only “flaw” would be that this album is nothing like the Doom EP, which fans first heard JFAC. However, I feel that older fans for the most part are still supporting the band and their direction.
So you got an insight on what this album has to offer: pure aggression, and technical playing. So why wouldn’t you buy this album? How about you spice up that playlist, and give this new album a try. This is Job For A Cowboy’s best work to date! It’s even better than the well renowned album Ruination! If you couldn’t put down Ruination and Gloom, then you will be listening to this album on repeat for hours on end. Come on and buy the album! And show your support for Demonocracy at The Summer Slaughter Tour, which Job For A Cowboy is currently a part of, before they unleash hell in Europe with Dying Fetus!
