A New “Era” begins! – Elvenking Review

My friends, have I got a treat for you! Are you a fan of Power Metal or Pagan Metal? How about both? Well then Elvenking is the band for you! With a fusion between both genres, the band’s new album, Era, is one that should not be passed up! Having a great range of speed, technicality, and symphonic sound, this album has it all for you. Think of Dragonforce mixing with Folk metal. With that being in mind, let’s take a look into this album.

Opening with the track, The Loser, the guitar riff definitely gives off a Power Metal vibe. Not long after, the synths and folk music kick in, giving a nice blend of both genres. This song has an uplifting emotion attached with it. Within seconds, you’ll be headbanging along, getting lost into the music. This track pulls you in, and refuses to let go! It is absolutely a perfect song to start an album with, and definitely builds up more curiosity about the album

A track that can paint you the best picture of this band, is the song Chronicle of A Frozen Era. This track captures a little bit of everything. Acoustics, folk, speedy metal, it has it all. Running at about 6 and half minutes, you’d definitely can count on one epic journey through the music. You can feel the emotion, and literally picture the images portrayed through the lyrics. Being able to create this feeling shows that this band puts so much effort into their work and do it to the fullest of their capabilities. This is one of the best tracks off of the album, and a personal favorite of mine. This is just one of those songs that will be played back over and over again.

With the guitars and vocals that bring resemblance to Dragonforce, and the atmosphere of Folk Metal, this is just a band that has create an entirely unique sound. Listening to this album shows that these are highly underrated musicians, and deserve to be mentioned among the big names in metal. They are paving the way for a new style of Folk Metal, almost revolutionizing it. They are the pioneers of this interesting take on song writing. They take pride in their work, and how they perform is a clear showcase of it.
