Hello there fellow metalheads! Have you been searching for some new tunes? I bet you have come across some pretty interesting albums over the summer, and making additions to your iPods. I’ll make a bold assumption here, but I’m going to say that most of your favorite bands are made up of epic manly dudes with veins flowing with liquid metal. Now what if I told you there was a great all-female band out there? Sure, you may be thinking ” Females and metal is such a rare occasion”, and may be hesitant to check them out. But don’t let an all girl band fool you! Crucified Barbara are a force to be reckoned with! And with their new album, The Midnight Chase, this female force brings on a brutal assault to heavy metal, with songs that sound similar to the Motörhead style of metal. Chauvinism not intended.
Artist: Crucified Barbara
Genre: Heavy Metal
Album: The Midnight Chase

After only a few seconds of listening to this album, you quickly realize that these girls know how to play heavy metal. Their musicianship is outstanding, and the vocals are flawless. With the opening track, “Crucifier”, the opening drums quickly give off the Motörhead influence. This track sets the standard for true heavy metal. Playing catchy riffs, and incredible guitar solos, it brings you back to what heavy metal is all about. The main chorus will have crowds all chanting along, headbanging. This is definitely one of the best tracks off of this album.
The album titled track is another great hit off of this album. It is played with a nice, steady beat. The song definitely delivers like it should. With some complex scales mixed up with the basic guitar riffs, this song has a great deal of diversity. If there is one thing that I love about metal, it’s the diversity it offers in its songs. This track sums that all up. The tempo remains the same, but the movements in the song just pulls you in until the very end. It’s just amazing how some bands will stick to the original formula that was handed down by the likes of Black Sabbath, and yet still make it into their own unique sound.
And cons? Forget about the cons! This album is nothing put pros. It just has so much to offer. With each track having its own unique vibe, no two will sound the same. The work of the instruments is just great, as well as the vocals. Even though this is an all female band, the vocals don’t have a “poppish” type of sound, but is easily related to how Motörhead sounds. It is just obvious that this band definitely takes a direct influence from Motörhead, but still make their music sound like their own, and not just a copy.
This band has much to offer in the heavy metal community, and a lot can be learned from them. They show that sticking to the roots is sometimes the best option for pumping out hard-hitting metal, and great material. Crucified Barbara is highly underrated, and definitely should be well-known among the stars of metal. For some, metal is a more male dominated genre and that females should not be a part of it. Well does that mean Angela Gossow isn’t brutal enough for metal? Guess again. This band shows that females know how to rock, and know how to do it well! So go out and pick up The Midnight Chase, and support the band! Check out their Facebook page here and give them a like!
